POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Registrations will be accepted until the second week of class if space is available and the class is running, however, tuition will not be prorated. Classes that do not have a minimum of 6 students one-week prior to start of class however, will be cancelled.
MEMBERSHIP – As you register for classes at the Art Center, please consider becoming a member. Not only will you save money on each class registration, but as a member you will also support the Art Center’s wonderful programs. Your membership includes $15 discount on classes, free admission to exhibits, 10% discount in the gift gallery and more!!
PAYMENT – Registration
is accepted by mail, phone, or in person. The instructor
does NOT accept registrations in the classroom. Cash,
check or credit card (MasterCard or Visa) are accepted during
business hours Tuesday – Friday from 10 – 5 and
Saturdays from 11 – 3. When paying by check, if payment is NOT received in 5 business days from your registration, you will lose your reserved spot in class.
**A THREE-PART PAYMENT PLAN is available for classes with fees of $50 or more. Payments for this plan are accepted using personal checks only. The first payment must be made upon registration for the class and two post-dated checks included with the registration. It is understood that the Art Center will process the additional two payments even if the person decides not to complete the class. An agreement form for the three-pay plan will be given to the student at the time of registration that clearly marked when the other two payments will be processed. The payments will be processed before the start of class.
RETURNED CHECKS – A
$25.00 service charge is applied to any check returned due
to insufficient funds.
REFUNDS-Refunds will be given ONLY when a registrant withdraws from a class AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR to the first class session. NO CASH REFUNDS WILL BE MADE. Refunds will be in the form of a check or through PayPal if that was the original method of payment. There are no refunds for missed class sessions. No refunds will be given after the first class session. A $10 service fee will be deducted from all refunds. Please all one month from the date of request to receive you refund.
CANCELLATIONS-The Center reserves the right to cancel any class when there is insufficient enrollment (minimum of six (6) students per class). Registrants will be notified and will receive a full refund. We will make every effort to reschedule a class when an instructor cancels but due to space and other classes we may be unable to reschedule.
FACULTY SUBSTITUTIONS – Art
Center may find it necessary to substitute faculty at any
time during the class term. A change in faculty does
not grant the right to a refund once the class has started.
OPEN STUDIO – Open studio is available on Thursdays from 1 – 4pm during the semester for all members enrolled in a class in the current semester.
INCLEMENT WEATHER- If the Center finds it necessary to close due to weather conditions, cancellation information will be found at 269-962-9511. Classes cancelled for inclement weather will be rescheduled whenever possible and every effort will be made to contact students by phone.
WAIT LISTS-When a class fills quickly, the Center will offer registrants the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list. Wait list students will be called when space becomes available or if there are enough students to offer another class section.
MATERIALS – All supplies
are provided for youth classes unless specifically noted
in the class description. Adult students are required
to purchase their own supplies. A materials list will
be provided at
registration and is also available on the website. Materials
can be
purchased at www.dickblick.com or www.utrecht.com or any local art supply
store.
PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY – The
Art Center reserves the right to photograph activities that
occur on its premises including students in class and student
artwork for use in promotional materials. Please notify
the instructor or staff at of the start of the class if this
is a concern.
CHILD DROP OF/PICK UP – For
the safety of young students, the Art Center requires that
parents do not drop off children more than
10 minutes prior to the start of class and always pick up
children within 5 minutes following the class. In the
case of an emergency, please call 269.962.9511
GIFT CERTIFICATES – Gift
certificates are available for class tuition and can be purchased
at the registration desk. Certificates are good for
up to one year from the date of purchase.
LIBRARY – A library
of art books is available for current students to check out
for 2 week intervals.
ARTREACH – ArtReach
is a multi-faceted program designed to
provide visual arts learning experiences for educators, scout
groups, classroom programming, SB-CEUs, and much more. Call

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – The
enthusiasm and diverse talents of volunteers are an invaluable
resource and we invite you to
contribute in whatever way you can. Some activities include
Special Events, Summer Children’s Art Camps, Community

DONATIONS - Donations are
always accepted for the Art Education Department. We
accept new, unused crayons, markers, paper, children’s
books, art books, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, masking
tape, scotch tape, oil pastels, brushes, glue, paper plates,
scissors, rulers, pencils and many other classroom supplies.
We also take used items in good condition. Call 269.962.9511
or artcenterofbc@yahoo.com to drop off your donation. Monetary
donations always accepted for the Art Education Department
to be used for equipment, scholarships, and supplies. The
Art Center also accepts donations for its semi-annual garage
sales, all items except clothing will be accepted. Original
art is also accepted for use in the permanent collection.

PERSONAL ITEMS – The
Art Center is not responsible for personal items left in
the classroom or artwork left after the third week
following the end of class.
PRIVATE LESSONS - The Art
Center of Battle Creek can customize private lessons for
children, youth and adults. Lessons fees are $50 an
hour per student member, $75 per student nonmember with a
minimum committment of a one-hour session for 6 weeks plus
materials. Availability dependant upon teachers. Please

arrange lessons.
INTERNSHIPS - A variety
of non-paid internships that involve working closely with
Art Center staff members are available to high shcool and
college-level students. Valuable experience is gained
while working with
eduation, exhibitions, public relations, membership, and
special events.
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (SB-CEUs) - CEUs
are offered periodically throughtout the year for educators. The
are made available by CISD and all applicants must complete
the proper forms to be eligible for credit.
ART A FACT Kits - The Art
A Fact program offers artifacts, project ideas, dvds, lesson
plans, and lots more for the classroom teacher, scout leader
and other groups to explore with students. From the
comfort of your classroom and one box you can visit Egypt,
Africa, Mexico,
Michigan, and several other countries!! Call to schedule
